You knew it would happen. It was just a matter of when. The Mets have taken Oliver Perez out of the starting rotation. Next Wednesday's starter in Washington has not yet been named but it will most likely be Hisanori Takahashi. Perez has struggled mightily this year with a 0-3 record and 5.94 ERA. Friday night in Florida, Perez allowed four homers and seven runs in just 3 and a 1/3 innings. The Mets did think about sending Perez to the minors but he would have to approve that move.

Oliver Perez needs to make his next start on Wednesday. Since he refused an assignment to the Minor Leagues, he must be kept in the rotation.
Oliver Perez in the bullpen for sporadic, low pressure appearances, does him and the team no good.
Another poor decision by Jerry "The Sage" Manuel and Daniel Dean Warthen.
Were you aware that genius Jerry Manuel's nickname is "The Sage."
According to Mirriam Webster:
Sage: Having or exhibiting wisdom and calm judgment. Proceeding from or marked by wisdom and calm judgment: sage advice.
How inappropriate is that for Jerry....
