Mets Johan Santana: Looking and Feeling Good
Let's go through the negatives right from the start: the Mets have passed on some good pitchers who could have helped the rotation tremendously. Just today, confirmation that Ben Sheets is going to Oakland; Roy Halladay is a Phillie; John Lackey is Boston bound and Jason Marquis will be in Washington this season. BUT ...here is the big BUT...JOHAN feels and looks great!!

He has been working on coming back stronger than ever this season despite his surgery on that left (throwing) elbow to remove bone spurs back in September. He threw 24 pitches today and has a plan in place for the rest of the Spring. He says he will not pitch under the second week of the Grapefruit League games, 2nd week in March. Listen...take it slow Johan! You are all we've got. I will say this until Pelfrey, Maine, and Ollie give me something to hang my hat on at the beginning of the season. Johan says if the team stays healthy, they will be ok. That should be the 2010 slogan...2010 Mets: If we stay healthy, we will be ok Hear from Johan just after the break:

We know the Mets always like those catchy Marketing Slogans every year. I think you may be onto something, Lolita:
"2010 Mets: If We Stay Healthy, We Will Be Ok"
Send it along to David Howard and the gang over at Citi Field. They can put a big sign up and it may assist them in selling season tickets.
Good interview. I also heard Johan on with Benigno & Roberts this morning. Sounds like he felt no pain in his 25 or so pitches.
BTW: Good to see you are back from Indianapolis. Turns out that Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts drove from Indianapolis to New York yesterday. Took them 11 hours and they got back to Evan's apartment in Queens at about 3:30 this morning.
