Jets Mission: Disrupt Manning

I said the other night that I was buying into the whole Rex Ryan/Karma Gang Green on a roll thing. But like many of the so called experts and pundits who are squeezing for space on the Gang Green Band Wagon, I momentarily forgot that the top priority on the docket this Sunday is-do what you have to do to disrupt Peyton Manning.

That won't exactly be a walk in the park. Manning is bar none right now, the best QB in football. I stated a few weeks ago that Mark Sanchez was the worst QB in the playoffs. Those that know me know this was NOT said in malice. The rookie struggled mightily at times during the regular season. Sanchise has accorded himself well in the postseason, but Manning is in another stratosphere. It's kind of like saying that Andre Dawson is in the same universe with Babe Ruth because BOTH are now in the Hall of Fame. Ah, no. Manning is a football maestro. He's a coach on the field rattled by very little.

The Jets best chance to win the game-hit Manning early and often; make him move his feet. Disrupt his timing with different looks and packages. Ball control by the O won't necessarily do it. In Miami early in the season, the Dolphins had the ball for 45 minutes-and Manning got the Colts the win with a late scoring drive. Remember this: In the 15 games that Manning played all out and the whole game (excluding the Jets and Bills the final 2 weeks of the season) the Colts are 15-0

I'll go out on a limb here: If Rex Ryan's defense comes up with a Herculean performance that beats the Colts, THEY WILL WIN the Super Bowl. But it may be easier to walk through hell in a gasoline suit.

Bobby, no malice indeed. It is fact. Mark Sanchez was the worst quarterback in the playoffs hands down due to the way he had played in his rookie season. When asked about Mark Sanchez, I simply have said "some good, some bad...what you might expect froma rookie quarterback in the NFL."
Peyton Manning is on a different planet. Your Andre Dawosn/Babe Ruth analogy was perfect.
Kerry Rhodes openly talked on Tuesday about rattling Peyton Manning. Putting some fear in him. It must be noted that Peyton has been sacked only 10 times this season. In 17 games, 10 sacks. The Jets have not been a prolific sack oriented football team. Their defensive line will never be confused with the Sack Exchange of the 1980's. The Jets blitz on 57% of their defensive downs. This is how they apply pressure.
Phillip Rivers had success in the first half throwing, albeit he produced only one touchdown. Rex Ryan took his defense out of zone and the dominated Rivers, except for that late four (4) play drive that brought the game within 17-14 setting up the ill advised onside kick by San Diego.
The Jets must apply pressure. If they get a sack or two, even better. Your premise is on point.

Lets Go Jets!!!!

J-E-T-S Jets...Jets...Jets
