ENOUGH ALREADY!!

Unless you've been in a cave the last few weeks, you've probably heard about Tiger Woods, wife Elin and some goings on that are not fit for those under 21 to even entertain, let alone think about. I hereby request that all the "media" hoopla over Eldrrick's adulterous dalliances stop-NOW!

Let me state that I am saddened by all the stories that have come forth. Harry Truman once said that a man who is not faithful to his wife won't be faithful to his country, or anything else in his life. I'd like to think that Tiger is as patriotic as any other American. But it's reprehensible that he didn't take his marriage vows seriously. Over 50 percent of marriages in this country alone end in divorce, and Woods, disciplined as he may be when working tirelessly to be the world's best golfer, didn't apply that same work ethic and self control to his relationship with his wife.

I'm also happy that Democratic Congressman Joe Baca of California has pulled his support of a Congressional Medal for Woods. Several sponsors, like Gatorade, are pulling ads and ties to him. Great. With great power and influence comes great responsibility. Though it may only be a slap on the wrist for Tiger, it is good to see some consequences resulting from a profound lack of character.

But that's it. Honestly, once Woods admitted on his website he had "violated his values", the media whores, er hordes, who look for every nuance and lurid detail of whatever wrongs Woods has done, should have stopped. Woods is indeed a public figure, but his marriage is a lot less meaningful to my life than say health care, unemployment and paying the bills. You wouldn't know that by watching any TV newscasts, where bad news and scandal dominate a 30 or 60 minute program.

Let Woods go about living his life. He has to repair the damage that HE caused to his life and those of his loved ones. You know that this whole thing is overblown when Heidi Fleiss and Ashley Dupre are saying enough is enough. When those 2 are the moral compass of the country, there are definite problems around here.

So I say: Hey TV people: Concentrate on what people need to know, exciting stories that THEY care about and benefit from. Sadly, TMZ has replaced Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite as the standard of journalism. As my friend Sal might say, it's the "dumbing down of America."

The media has bought into the relative morality and baser nature of our society, and now feeds it with gossip as news. It's probably too late to ask for it to stop, but at least in this case, I will anyway.

The only thing I care about in regards to Tiger Woods is whether or not he can play golf. If these scandals affect his play (or his participation in an event that his accident DID DO since he missed his own tournament) fine.

Otherwise, we the people, the media posse and the Woods family need to go about our own lives.
