Pedro Martinez: Last of the good ones...
Pedro Martinez continues to prove naysayers wrong...continues to dominate despite his "elderly statesman" title (Pedro turns 38 in October)...and is one of those old school pitchers that just pitches. There are no rules when it comes to Pedro and I love that! I don't think he is necessarily a stick to them kind of guy but he is rejoicing in his performance last night against his old team.

My favorite thing though is he fights to stay in games...even if the 8-th with Daniel Murphy on second base and Pedro losing some of his control, he tells Charlie Manuel, no I am staying IN. (to the absolute delight of the crowd!) It took a bone head play by my boy Murph (getting caught trying to steal 3rd on that pass ball) to get Pedro out of the inning. Here's a cool blog I found where a fan analyzes Pedro's pitches...velocity in the 90s, moving pitches all around the plate...GREAT!
