Mets Remember Jimmy Plummer With "Plum Room" Dedication
8:12PM | September 8, 2009 | posted by Matt Estreich | comments: 3
James Plummer was more than just a member of the Mets staff and today the team honored his memory.
The Mets unveiled the "Plum Room," a private holding area at Citi Field.

In the video below the jump, Mets GM Omar Minaya, franchise legend Rusty Staub and Mr. Plummer's son speak about Jimmy Plummer during the dedication ceremony.
Plummer passed away of a heart attack last year at the age of 57. He worked for the Mets for nearly five decades, rising from bat boy during the Mets rookie season in 1965 to the front office.
Take a listen.

It is great to see the Mets continue to recognize Mr. Plummer for the great person he was. I am fortunate to say that I did get to know him back in the 1980's as he coached our CYO sandlot Mets team in Queens. He was always so visible at Shea Stadium, and he is very deserving of this latest recognition. Congratulations.
Such a deserving person to be honored by his Met organization. PLEASE set up on oppurtunity for FANS of Jim Plummer to veiw this room.
Plummer was a dear friend and brother to the group of us who met him at ETSU, and continued our relationship to the present. He always gave more than he would ever receive from us. We loved him, and know with certainty that he loved us. From the girls from ETSU, ( in memory of Loddie), Dorothy, Johnetta, Deborah, and Meledia. Plummer is truly missed.
