What is going on with the Mets and their lower halves? Huh?
To steal a term from the NFL...the Mets and their "lower body injuries" are killing them, their season and the fans!
Beltran, knee. Reyes hamstring. Sheffield, hamstring. Delgado, hip. Now Jonathon Niese, hamstring. Castillo, ankle. (tripped going down the dugout steps.) What is going on here? Whatever happened to a normal baseball injury, sore arm, tight shoulder? John Maine seems to be the only one of the injured players with a normal "upper body injury."
If I'm a Mets player, I have to be afraid to wake up in the morning and put my feet on the floor. Might pull a toe-nail, or strain a knee cap. This is not funny anymore.
The latest thing with the Mets is, they say they are not going to shave until they're above the .500 mark. As of Wednesday night, they're 4 games under that water mark, but shaving shouldn't be the concern. The concern should be focused on walking, skipping, running, rolling without pulling a hammy, turning an ankle, or tweaking a knee.
Get these guys walkers, those cute one's with the half tennis balls on the bottom so they slide better!

Many times when there are a number of injuries to a particular part of the body, one might suspect the strength and conditioning area of the team. I am not sure if this would be proper or prudent, but a thought, nonetheless. The number of injuries and the length of rehabilitation has been curious to say the least. The Mets medical staff has been under the microscope in 2009, but have not heard about their strength and conditioning program scrutiny.
