CC Heeds “Huddle” Advice…Throws A Gem

Seems CC has his fancy personal locker room laptop computer tuned to WPIX.com and read our blog last night calling for the big fella to follow up AJ Burnett’s beauty and twirl one of his own.

(And yes, by the way, each of the Yankees has a personal laptop affixed like a plasma screen TV in their lockers…and often times they have – let’s say – “creative” desktop wallpapers…).

Like we said last night, this series marked the perfect time for the Yankees new hired guns to finally showcase their “ace” potential, and both AJ Burnett and CC have come through big this weekend.

That’s the kind of return you expect on your $250 million off season investment!

Did you ever think the Yankees would so easily be able to turn “0-8” into a distant memory while simultaneously turning the table on the Red Sox?

All of a sudden the Yanks have the complete upper hand and they can thank their studs at the top of the rotation for their new found position.

Who knows, maybe those performances will rub off on Andy Pettitte tomorrow when he squares off against Jon Lester.

Pettitte has pitched well as of late, but if he’s going to keep the Sox’ scoreless streak going he’ll need to channel the grit and “stuff” of AJ and CC.

It won’t be easy, but if he does dominate the Red Sox again, imagine the blow to the psyche that will be for Boston.

They’re starting their other ace in Lester tomorrow with the hopes of stopping the bleeding and avoiding the sweep.

What a psychological lift it will be for the Yankees if they can claim a four-game sweep of the Red Sox that included wins against BOTH Beckett and Lester.

That’s the kind of mental edge you ride into the post season if/when the Yanks see Boston in the ALCS.

But we’re getting ahead of ourselves for now. Let’s just see if the Yanks can keep these good vibes going tomorrow when they clearly are at a disadvantage in the starting pitching match up.
