Blah! I Have A Yankees Hangover

I’ve made my Yankee fandom no secret here on the blog, but I must admit that watching tonight’s Yankees/Blue Jays game just isn’t doing it for me.

After “The Boston Massacre,” I’m definitely suffering a Yankee hangover.

And this game hasn’t even been that bad! Granted Sergio Mitre stunk, but there were a bunch of home runs – including back to back jacks by the Yankees and a MOON SHOT by Lyle Overbay – and other assorted nice plays.

Still, this game doesn’t have 1/5th the cache of the previous four.

Even the fact that the Yankees have a seven game win streak on the line isn’t getting my juices flowing. If they do lose this game (it’s currently the 9th inning), I won’t be that heartbroken. Whatever…it’s just a game in the middle of August.

Now obviously I wouldn’t (and didn’t) say the same thing during the Sox series. Like all Yankee fans I was living and dying with that series. Thankfully, I did plenty of livin’!!

But this game? Win, lose….big deal. It’s just hard to get up for this series.

Anyone else feel the same way?

So far, it seems like the Yankee players themselves might agree with me, too.
