What is it with the Angels? Whenever the Yankees see them they just lay down and lose. It's been that way since 2002 when the upstart Angels beat the heavily favored Yankees in the ALDS. Some of the faces have changed. Gone are the David Ecksteins and Darin Erstads of the world... replaced by the likes of Chone Figgins and Howie Kendrick... but still the Angels have a hex on the Bombers just the same way they did starting 7 years ago.

What is it? I wonder if Lolita Lopez, Glenn Petraitis, Bob Taute and myself don Angels uniforms, could we beat the Yankees? We might be able to! Throw in Jim, Kaity, and Mr. G and we definitely got em beat! Friday night, the Yankees ran out to a 4-0 lead... The Angels came back and won. Saturday, they also led 4-0... They got 2 homeruns by Alex Rodriguez and still the Angels came back and won 14-8. Sunday, the Angels grabbed the early lead and held off the Yankees as they tried to make a comeback. When the Angels need to outhit the Yankees, they do. If they need to outpitch the Yankees, they do. They beat them in Anaheim, they beat them in the Bronx. They would beat them on Mars.

The Yankees had better figure out a way to beat this team. Looking ahead at the Yankees schedule, the Yankees have 4 more games against the dreaded Halos in September. They have a make-up game at Yankee Stadium then another 3 game series in Anaheim. Those games will undoubtedly be crucial for a Yankees team that will have a lot to fight for at that time of year whether its the division lead or the wild card.

By the way, if the playoffs started today (don't you hate when people say that) the Yankees would be the Wild Card winner. The Red Sox, Tigers and Angels would be division winners. The Yankees cannot play the Red Sox in the first round because they're in the same division. So the Red Sox, who have the best record would play the division winner with the worst of the remaining 2 records. That would be Detroit. So that means, yes, the Yankees would play the Angels in the first round if the playoffs started today, but of course, they don't. By the way, they need to beat the Red Sox too. But that's another conversation for another day.

You haven't said a dang thing wrong Chris. There is something in the way Scoiscia's team play that gets into the Yankees heads. I think part of the problem is that thhey don't beat themselves. They play the game the right way. Agressive on the base paths, play solid defense, pitch well. There's no mystery to it. I want no part of them in October.

As long as Lolita hits third or fourth in the lineup so she can be the true impact bat in that lineup. Then, lead by the best player on the team, LoLo would lead you guys to victory.
The Angels are an aggressive and athletic team. In many ways, they are the antithesis of the slugging, plodding Yankees. They are a team that proves that if you play fundamental, aggressive baseball, you can succeed. Even if you are missing Vlad Guerrero and Tori Hunter, you can overcome by playing crisp, clean baseball. I trust the Mets are taking notes as they admire the Angels style of play.
