Subway Series: Embarrassing!

This is embarrassing. The Yankees come into Citi Field and sweep the Mets. The embarrassing part is not losing to the Yankees although I don't like losing to those guys and the previously erratic Chien Ming Wang. The embarrassing part is that the Mets keep fielding this team of back-ups and the General Manager does nothing. The Mets couldn't have used Mark DeRosa, could they? They wouldn't need 13 homers and 50 RBI from a guy who can play a few positions. Nah... Its me, I'm crazy... Time is ticking.. You can't keep hoping the Phillies will continue to stink it up so you can stay close. They've won 2 in a row while the Mets have lost 3 in a row. Omar... Let's Go!!
As for the game... Like I said before, not being able to beat Wang... Not good! C'Mon.. His ERA was a thousand and the Mets make a winner out of him. Secondly, the Yankees were laughing, yes laughing at the Mets. Top 9th. The Yankees were up 3-2. K-Rod is in the game in a non save situation. Leadoff hitter Jorge Posada pops up, Luis Castillo and Alex Cora say "Ole" and instead of there being one out and nobody on, Posada has a gift single. Fast forward in the inning to when there were Yankees on first and second and Derek Jeter was up with 2 out. Mariano Rivera is the next batter. He had entered the game in the 8th inning and would OBVIOUSLY pitch the 9th. So there's no way they pinch hit for Rivera even though they put Francisco Cervelli on the on deck circle. So the Mets start to pitch to Jeter and he actually laughs... Basically saying: Don't you guys know who's up next? EMBARRASSING! ESPN did a great job getting a close up of his face. As a Mets fan, I cringed. But wait.. There's more... So they finally do walk Jeter to load the bases with 2 outs and Mo comes to the plate with exactly 2 major league at bats under his belt. The last coming just this past week in Atlanta against the Braves. (He lined out sharply to center.) What does K-Rod do? He immediately falls behind 2-0 to Rivera. UGH! Then with the count at 2-2, Rivera swings like he wanted to hit the ball a mile. He fouled it off. Finally, the ultimate indignity, Rodriguez walked Rivera to force in a run. Rivera's first career RBI. If there's one Yankee player that I actually like, it is Rivera because he's such a class act. But to see him work out a walk to score a run while my team can't score runs is a bit much to take.
Then what does he do? Of course, he works a scoreless 9th inning to earn his 500th career save. He's a great player and Congratulations to him. But these Brooklyn Cyclone Mets are no fun to watch right now. So Omar.. This weekend, the Yankees outscored the Mets 18-3. The Mets had exactly 9 hits in the series and they kicked the ball all around the field. Jerry Manuel said this team can score if they catch a break like an error. Wow! This is a team screaming for help. Omar, can you hear them??

Mark Derosa, a Bergen Catholic product, would have been a quality addition to the New York Metropolitans lineup. The word from sources covering the Mets was that the Cleveland Indians were asking for Bobby Parnell. I am not willing to trade Bobby Parnell for Mark DeRosa, thus the former University of Pennsylvania quarterback lands in the heartland with St. Louis.
As for the current state of the New York Mets, they need to win games with the players that constitute this lineup. Unless the Mets are willing to part with Bobby Parnell, Fernando Martinez and/or Jonathan Niese, they will probably not make a move. As the trading deadline gets closer, maybe the cost for some offensive talent will go down.
