NY Mets: Pick a New Song
Okay, despite what you might have heard on the radio or the like, we here in the PIX sports office have been talking about the music played at Citi Field, one song in particular, for days. "Sweet Caroline"...REALLY?! All I think about when the song starts playing is the Red Sox. It's their song, just like Sinatra's "New York, New York" is as Yankee as Derek Jeter and the Boss. So why are the Mets playing other teams' music? Maybe they don't have the right alternatives. We walked around the newsroom, talked to loved ones, pondered other options even on our off time...(yes we are an exciting bunch) and came up with a few suggestions. Please give us yours. I know the Mets' "Music Man" ...we could send him the list.

Bob P.
"NY State of Mind" (Billy Joel), depending on the moment in the game
"Play the Game" (Queen)
Eric T.
None--how about just the sound of bat on ball. If there has to be music than anything from the good ol' organ will do just fine.
Caroline
"Glory Days" (Bruce Springsteen)
"I would walk 500 miles" (the Proclaimers) **My side note: remember these are songs that kids must hear too. I think there has to be some sort of "cheese" factor to the song and usually that consists of a catching tune and/or verses or chorus. Both of these fit the bill.
Bob T.
"Centerfield" (John Fogerty)
"The Cheap Seats" (Alabama)
Saul
Keep it simple..."Meet the Mets"
Chris
"Momma said Knock You Out" (LL Cool J)
**Another side note: the Mets have used "Let it Rock" (Kevin Rudolf) a lot this season. Adopt this one or on the same, more contemporary line, how about "Stronger" (Kayne West). That gets me pumped on the treadmill.

Hi,
I think we are the champions would be good. I like Liza Minelli song New York, New York.
Neil Diamond is nice. A native new yorker i believe.
But Lots of teams play that song. The Mets always have to be followers. "Stronger" by Kanye West is a good choice. As a partial season ticket holder for the past 23 years. Anything buit Sweet Caroline. Makes me feel like eating Clam Chowder whenever i hear it.
I recommend bring back "The Curly Shuffle". It was our song in the 80's and not anyone else's.
I recommend Know Your Enemy by Green Day. It should be played when they announce the Mets starting lineup or when the Mets win.
"Meet The Mets" A Time Honored Favorite
"Don't Stop Believin'" By Journey
This is played at Dodger Stadium, but is more appropriate for the New York Mets. "Ya' Gotta Believe" Tug McGraw
The Mets are the franchise that first believed and then triumphed.
