Mets Johan Santana: Always sweating it out

Johan Santana has been amazing!! 6 starts..54 strikeouts...BUT his offensive support: 12 runs including tonight's lucky break run. What does this guy have to do to get some support?

Several players have commented on how frustrating it has been to NOT give Johan the offense he deserves. Well, the one who should be annoyed is Johan himself! He is always sweating it out instead of relishing in his good performance and sitting back while his team says "you give me a strikeout, I will give you run". Wouldn't that be great? A run for every strikeout... yea right?!? Thank you Johan because we never worry with you on the mound. That must be tiring... Knowing his work ethic and a mental toughness that is equal to his physical skill...probably not.

Casey Stengel, "The Old Professor", would just say "AMAZIN'."
That is the lone word to describe Johan Sanatana and his brilliance in 2009. Johan should be 6-0, but his 4-1 record and 0.91 Earned Run Average (ERA) is just spectacular.
The run support, at 12 (averaging 2 runs per game) is too few. Interesting how some pitchers get little run support, while others get so many runs. I like the idea of a run per strikeout. Johan would have won 10-0 last night and 13-0 in the heartbreaking loss in Florida the first weekend of the 2009 baseball season.
His work ethic, mental toughness and athletic ability are terrific. How about his kick save against Pedro Feliz on a comebacker in the Philadelphia fourth. He utilized his soccer skills to kick it to the third base side of the mound and then pounced on it quick as a cat and threw out Feliz by plenty.
Johan has been off the charts great. The best pitcher in baseball. Great to see Pedro Feliciano and Francisco Rodriguez close out last night's 1-0 thriller at Citi Field.
Vamos Johan!!!
