LeBron Loses: Maybe the Fix is NOT in!

Maybe the NBA isn't fixed after all. LeBron James and the Cavaliers lost 103-90 to the Orlando Magic in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals. So the dream matchup featuring Kobe Bryant's Lakers vs. James' Cavaliers that has been hyped everywhere will not come to pass. Bryant held up his end of the bargain but King James was not able to do the same.

This league has had innuendo for the longest time dating back to the Knicks winning the Draft Lottery and picking Patrick Ewing. In the last few years an NBA referee went to jail for betting on games that he officiated. But with the perennial loser Clippers winning the lottery this year and James' Cavs ducking out of the playoffs early, maybe things ARE on the level. Although, if you were watching the Draft Lottery live, conspiracy theorists were ready to pounce on the Blake Griffin to Oklahoma City possibility. But the Thunder didn't win the first pick so it's a moot point.

Maybe it's a grand scheme to bring LeBron to NYC. His team loses, he realizes he can't win in Cleveland and the Knicks make this sweet offer and bring him to MSG... Then they surround him with some better players than the Anderson Varejaos and the Zydrunus Ilgauskases of the world. There I go with the conspiracy theories again. It's funny... Some basketball writers would tell hopeful Knicks fans to root for James to win, others say root for him to lose... I guess everyone has their opinions on what would bring him to the big city. I want him across the river in New Jersey but I realize I am in the minority with that.

One digression, if you allow me: LeBron (if you're reading this, and I'm sure you are)... You can't blow off the media when you lose Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals. You are the face of the Cavaliers, heck, the face of the NBA. I know you are devastated after losing, but give the reporters 10 minutes after the game. Michael Jordan never skipped out. You've been nothing but a class act up to this point and your should continue that behavior. After those 10 minutes, you can disappear until November. It's not enough to come back the next day and then talk. We needed to hear from you after the game. Ok, enough of my preaching.

Well... In the time between now and Thursday, the NBA and its writers will have some hook to try and draw you into a series with the Lakers and the Magic. I don't know what stories will come up, but I do have an idea. Why don't we let Shaquille O'Neal be an in-studio analyst for the series. I just can't wait to hear what he says about his good buddy Kobe or his favorite former coach Stan Van Gundy. That would be fun!!
