Things Not Looking Good For The Rangers

You wonder what Rangers coach John Tortorella was thinking yesterday sitting up in the luxury ssuite rather than behind the bench as the Blueshirts dropped Game 6 to the Capitals at MSG. Tortorella, the supposed master motivator and disciplinarian, sat out for his own misdeeds in Game 5.

You remember Game 5: Tortorella benched Sean Avery for two STUPID penalties in the late stages of Game 4 that put the screws to goalie Henrik Lundqvist. Hank stood up and won 2-1. But he hasn't finished Game 5 OR 6, as the Caps started free wheeling and controlling play. They have dominant skaters and much more fire power.

But in the third period of Game 5, Torts got into with a fan, throwing stuff and yelling over the glass. Hey, I understand that fans are rowdy and can cross the line verbally. A coach is NOT afforded that luxury, and Tortorella SHOULD have maintained his cool. He easily could have asked security for some help. Instead, GM Glen Sather sent a missive to the NHL from his ivory tower saying that security is poor in Washibngton.

It won't matter. The Capitals are rolling and full of confidence. The Blueshirts look deader than David Schwimmer's acting career. Even without Donald Brashear (he of the cheap shot on Blair Betts and love tap on Colton Orr got him a 6 game suspension) the Rangers (I hope I'm wrong) probably lose tomorrow unless Lundqvist stands on his head.
