Everything Was Great-Except The Result

The brand new Yankee Stadium opened this afternoon. From all reports of media and fans, it truly is a jewel that fans of baseball and Yanlee history will enjoy. You walk into the Great Hall and you know right away where you are and who you're watching. Let's hope the Mets start getting that right at Citi Field.

But, for all the pomp and circumstance, the opening result at the Stadium was much the same as the Mets' first game at Citi Field-a bummer. C, C. Sabathia labored but kept the Yanks in the game. It was 1-1 in the 7th before Demaso Marte and Jose Veras stunk out the joint. Grady Sizemore's grand slam is still going.

Let's not forget either that the Yanks stranded 8 runners in the first 4 innings. That didn't help. Cliff Lee and the Tribe bullpen was better than the Bombers when it mattered. Yanks lose 10-2. FYI: A-Rod can't get back soon enough. Despite a great diving stop and throw to get a man at the plate, Ransom looks bewildered at the plate

The Yankees had opportunities early to score runs and get a lead. Twice Jorge Posada left two runners on and Johnny Damon left the bases loaded. A disappointing loss for the Yankees in their first ever game at the new Yankee Stadium.
I watched the game on television. Again, the Yankees did it right. This pains me to always note this. As A Mets fan, I am frustrated and embarassed by the ineptness of Mets Management.
The Yankees have a wonderful Museum documenting and depicting Yankee History. I thought the "Ball Wall" in which the Yankees have baseballs signed by many former Yankees was creative. The Yankees certainly have a glorious history and, sometime to adnauseam, celebrate it.
In addition, they have over 200 classic photographs from the Daily News archiives adorning the concourses, not to mention their "Great Hall."
What do the Mets have to note their history at Citi Field? Walk around Citi Field and get back to me with that negative answer.
Even as a Mets fan, I look forward to going to Yankees Stadium. Since I have no passion for the Yankees, I am sure I will be impressed by the new Yankee Stadium, as I was watching it on television yesterday.
The passion I have for the New York Mets causes my initial reaction to Citi Field.
