Curry Makes Rare Appearance With Knicks

Eddy Curry's Knick career certainly hasn't been much to write home about. He was a talented question mark to begin with. The Chicago Bulls, Curry's hometown team, were so concerned about his cardiac problems they had no trouble letting the Knicks pick up the 6'11" big man a four years ago. Questions about his heart (literally and figuratively), his knees, plus off the court disasters have haunted him. Even coach Mike D'Antoni was surprised to see Curry at practice today.
Curry's knee troubles have held him to less than 3 minutes of playing time this season. Sadly, his off court troubles have made his physical ailments look like a walk in the park. Legal troubles with his former personal driver over things difficult to even write about, never mind discuss. Less than 6 weeks ago, Curry's ex-girlfriend and infant daughter were murdered.
I give Curry credit for at least trying to practice and hopefully play soon. Yes, it would be great from a basketball standpoint if the Knicks could end their relationship with him. But many people would have totally packed it in after a convicted felon brings a lawsuit aginst you and you lose loved ones to tragedy. D'Antoni called today a "good first step" for Curry. If that's true, Curry has begun what will be a slow and difficult road to a normal life-with or without basketball.
Remember-the Knicks and Charlotte Bobcats tomorrow night at 7:30-LIVE from Madison Square Garden-only on PIX, Channel 11
