A-Rod's Out; Does It Help The Yanks?

I know, I know. Another blog on A-Rod. Believe me, I dislike writing about him just as much as you guys hate reading about him (and we know that because you’ve left us plenty of comments telling us so).

But the latest news that A-Rod will be out until May has to be discussed. But I figure we mix it up; instead of dissecting what this means for Rodriguez, how about what his absence will do for the Yanks.

The way I see it, A WHOLE HELL OF A LOT!

With A-Rod recovering in Colorado, the Yankees can finally return to a relative sense of normalcy.

A-Rod was making news seemingly every day, and every day down in Tampa was a media circus. I still can’t believe that in the spring that the Yankees spend half a billion dollars, we have barely talked about AJ, CC, and Tex. It’s been all A-Rod all the time.

Now with A-Rod out of the picture for a month or so, the focus can finally shift to baseball. Hopefully some attention will be paid to the new hired guns (and that includes us here at PIX. We’ve been hamstrung by this A-Rod junk just like everyone else).

And, I might be stating the obvious here, but you know those guys are at their wits end discussing A-Rod every day. Talking about whether Cody Ransom can cut it at third base will be a breeze compared to the A-Rod nonsense.

It seems like the only downside to A-Rod’s absence will be the team missing out on Rodriguez’s typically MONSTER months of April and May. We all know he kills it in the beginning of the season.

Come to think of it, maybe the Yanks would have been better off if A-Rod played now, and went the surgery route in September/October….because you know he won’t hit above .150 when it counts.

This depends on how you look at things.. A-Rod has this habit of having a great season, then the next, a decent season.
Last year, was a decent season in my opinion for him.
As far as the Yankees being hurt by losing him for what, a month or so. I don't think the Yankees will be hurting. There are plenty of other stars on the Yankees that can help out the team. They just have to work as a team and not individuals when playing games, and they have to 'ALL' stop trying to hit the long ball. It will come when the time is right...
On a different note, I think the Yankees should have picked up K-Rod from the Angels, as a back up for Mariano. I'm sorry to say, Mariano just does not throw that ball as hard as he used to. I think he would have been a better set up man for K-Rod.
But, thats my opinion...
