Was it Enough for You?

I have to say... It wasn't enough for me... Alex Rodriguez faced the media at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa this afternoon to put this steroids issue behind him. But in actuality, he didn't. There are still remaining questions that may or may not ever be answered.
Let's give you a quick rundown of what this press conference unearthed. The biggest piece of news is that Rodriguez said a cousin injected Rodriguez with a steroid called "Boli or Bole." It was purchased over the counter in the Dominican Republic. Rodriguez took the drug for an average of two times a month for 3 years while with the Texas Rangers. He stopped when he had a neck injury and became worried about the drug's effects.
When reporters asked A-Rod how the drugs helped him, he said he didn't know if they did. Really A-Rod?? Then why use them? He chalked his drug use up to being young and stupid. He said that he didn't know he was using a steroid. He knew they weren't tic-tacs Rodriguez joked. I should hope not. Who injects tic-tacs? He said he didn't know he was doing anything wrong and he wasn't sure if he had tested positive. I think if it were me, I might have asked someone. Also, Rodriguez claimed to not know if he were administering the steroid correctly. I find that hard to believe.
One reporter asked Rodriguez what his cousin's name was. A-Rod said that it wasn't important. Uh A-Rod, I think it might be important, because that cousin brought illegal drugs into the country for your use... If there was a cousin in the first place... So either Rodriguez just threw his cousin under the bus OR he's covering for someone else... But watch that angle of the story.
He said his drug use ended in 2003 and he has not used HGH but he did "dabble" with an amphetamine while he played in Seattle. When asked a few different times (in a few different ways) if he were a cheater, Rodriguez said that wasn't for him to say. Many WILL SAY that he is a cheater.
Rodriguez got emotional when talking about his teammates support. The only words he could muster were Thank You... I'm sure the Yankees are tired of this steroid talk but I'm not sure it will end anytime soon. My take on the steroids issue in baseball: It's getting to the point where you are guilty until proven innocent. Nobody is above suspicion for me. And that's a shame.
One final point... A-Rod said he called Sports Illustrated writer Selena Roberts and they hashed things out and put things behind them. That's very gracious of her, don't you think?? After all, A-Rod accused her of stalking him and breaking in to his house. She definitely has grounds for a lawsuit, but maybe she won't pursue that because her book deal will be lucrative enough.
I've strung together some of the hilites from today's press conference. Check them out and leave a comment with your opinion.

just another joke!
just another joke!
This is more than enough for me. He had his press conference, now the press should just let it go and quit beating a dead horse. The media always drags a story on too long. Unfortunately, I know we're going to hear this story for at least another week because of...yes, the press/media. Leave the man alone and let him go on with his spring training.
I think A Rod lied about what really happened and he knew exactly what he was taking and doing His apology is not sincere but rather a desperate attempt to salvage his reputation and career. I do think it is time to let it go as this is not the first or last athlete who will be caught taking illegal steroids. We have more important matters to attend to like the Nation"s very serious economic status .. A Rods taking steroids is not a shock to me. Why is everybody so consumed with this ? Maria from Brooklyn, NY
A- Rod is not the first one or last one to use Steroids in the MLB. At least he was brave enough to admit it. And besides, weren't there other people in field that were using sports enhancement? Like Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, and Mark McGuire? What ever happened to putting them on the spotlight? There was a so called list of 104 players on the list, where are the other 103 players, why only Alex Rodriguez? This just all seems like some kind of jealousy or hatred against DOMINICAN PLAYERS, becuase we are the best. And if that's not the case, then why did the court claim Miguel Tejada for lying and not Roger Clemmens. He has more then 10years lying to court. Steroid or no Steriod, Dominican baseball players will always triumph.

whatever votes he loses for the hall of fame he's sure to gain plenty of oscar votes. This so called "act" of contrition is so fake it's laughable. Even the Yankee's rallying 'round Rodriguez rings hollow. I'm not sure his steroid abuse advanced his career to the degree of Bonds, Mcgwire, Clemons, Sosa, etc; but it's loud and clear his only concern is trying to save face. In my opinion A-rod should forget about his baseball legacy and focus on his after baseball life. He appears more than qualified to succeed as an actor or even a politician.

I WATCHED WHEN A ROD BLATANTLY DENIED EVER USING PERFORMANCE ENHANCING DRUGS WHEN ASKED BY KATIE C. LAST YEAR..... I DID NOT BELIEVE HIM AND DON'T BELIEVE HIM NOW. WHY LIE... WHY LIE TO THE MILLIONS OF FANS ....WHY DIDN'T HE COME CLEAN AND TOLD THE TRUTH WHEN ASKED BY MS. KATIEC. HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING ... WHAT BOTHERS ME IS THE DISHONESTY... HE IS NOT AN HONEST MAN... I WAS WATCHING THE PRESS CONFERENCE TODAY AND DID NOT SEE NOR DID I FEEL ANY GENUINE REMORSE FROM HIM DURING THAT SPEECH...HE CAME ACROSS "VERY PLASTIC" ...IF ANYTHING.... I THINK A-ROD HAS A BIG PROBLEM.
I'm afraid Torre stumbled upon the right word: A-FRAUD!!!
This guy missed at least three chances in the questioning to save himself from further humiliation and to rescue his dwindling Hall of Fame prospects. Instead, he came to the conference ALL LAWYERED UP, and he showed it throughout! Those 3 chances?
1) "Would have you come forward with this information if it hadn't been revealed?" The only decent answer would have been something like "Of course not! Would you?" It would have shown humility with refreshing honesty and some disarming humor.
2) "Did you think you were cheating?" Again, the 3 h's above would have served him by acknowledging that is the ONLY reason athletes use them. "Hey, that's why they're called performance enhancers." would have also disarmed the questioners.
3) "Do you believe your records of 2001-03 should count?" That's where he blew it the most. That was his chance to salvage any Hall of Fame consideration. He should have then DEMANDED that his records of that period be expunged, and then asked to be judged on the other 20 years of a 23-year career. Stats like 700+ HR's, 2000+ ribbies and a .300+ BA would have argued well for him to the voters. But those voters will not take it upon themselves to erase those corrupted years. He would have had to request it - but he refuses to go there. (Like I said - all lawyered up.) I think his disappearing chances have all but vanished!
Now I'll stop wasting time - in our troubled times - on a business which has ceased to be a sport! It's a story of greedy billionaires having to cover for the behavior of the greedy millionaires who work for them, so those who do real work for a living will continue to file through the pricey turn styles, while having their bags inspected - not for weapons but for food!
I think I am very confused. Who does he think he is talking to?? He sounds like a HUGE liar and is taking all of us and taking us for IDIOTS.. Kick that loser to the curb ... yes, lots of athletes take steriods, but are you kidding us with "your responses." Get real A-Rod, unless you think that everyone listening to you is YOUNG AND STUPID ... admit it, take the rap and move on already ... really ....

Once it was noted that there would be no follow-up questions, the juice (pardon the pun) was out of this press conference. Alex Rodriguez did fine. It was a very controlled environment. It lasted only about 40 minutes. Those hoping to clarify all the grey areas were disappointed. We will probably never understand all the facts involved. It is what it is and we must just move on.
He is so fake and a huge LIAR!!!!
I thank everyone for their comments, but sadly this isn't the last that we will hear about A-Rod!!
