No Way! Jose Was Right The Entire Time
As the years go by and more and more (once) sure-fire Hall of Famers are proved liars and steroid-cheats, it appears the one person telling the truth this whole time was…Jose Canseco??!!
In two different books - 2005’s Juiced and 2008’s Vindicated - Canseco took heat for calling out some of the game’s greatest sluggers and identifying them as steroids users.
With each book Canseco was nearly universally dismissed as a sleaze out to make a buck. Granted, Canseco was no boy scout, and his reputation definitely preceded him when he made these allegations.
Knowing what we know today, it turns out Canseco was right all along. Jose was the first to identify the following players as users*:
-Mark McGwire
-Rafael Palmeiro
-Pudge Rodriguez
-Jason Giambi
-Juan Gonzalez
-Alex Rodriguez
*While not all of the above have been completely proven steroid users, it is generally accepted that all had some interaction with steroids during their careers. That’s some list. Arguably four guys who WOULD have been Hall worthy before their cheating became public.
Now that it’s clear Canseco was telling the truth, what should we make of some of his other claims?
In Juiced, Canseco said that 85% of Major Leaguers were taking steroids. At the time that number was scoffed at and Canseco was laughed off as a kook. What do you say about it now?
To a lesser extent, how about Canseco’s claim that A-Rod made a pass at his wife Jessica in 1998?
I admit I was skeptical of all of Canseco’s claims back in the day, but now that Jose appears to be the only one telling the truth, I have to consider what he says more closely.
85%? That’s starting to sound plausible to me.

Matt and I spoke about this as soon as I walked in today. Canseco may be a lot of things: arrogant, sleazy and just full of himself BUT he was right! I never doubted him really; however, I never wanted to believe him. It just seemed like he went to such extremes and made himself the pariah of baseball for more than the money. You don't "diss your boys" if you aren't 100% sure the information is valid. Some would say you don't diss your teammates at all. We ARE talking Canseco though. Bottom line, who is laughing now? Apparently he is! Ken Davidoff from Newsday spoke with him today(thanks Ken for coming on the show)and wrote on his blog:
"UPDATE, 3:33 p.m.: I just got Canseco on the phone. He was pleasant and brief: "I have no comment whatsoever. Thank you!""

Steroids,Steroids,Steroids! that's all news has to focus on ? come on people get a life!!! Who really cares if an athlete takes an enhancer for his or her performance!! I am sure many of you are thinking what I am saying, but are too introverted and afraid to say it out loud! Ha I say to all of you .Think about things this way, what are breast implants / Or ,how about any type of cosmetic surgery,Isn't that an Inhancement? (mainly exterior)How about viagra? Cyalis? Levetra? Those are certainly enhancing! What business is it for anyone to sit and judge others! Not me Certainly Not YOU ! , Definately,not The FED !!!! Are we going to have to divulge private info everytime we date someone knew that somethings are not as they seem? Now you're thinking that the sports figures have to set an example for the children? Okay ,here it is .....It is never a good idea to ingest chemicals of any kind ,Yes the adult sports elite If they want to Keep up with the younger players then that is their choice. That issue is a "private matter" not "public knowledge".WOULD YOU WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW ABOUT THAT PENILE IMPLANT ,OR THOSE BREAST IMPLANTS?
