Jacobs Returns To Big Blue, Wants Plax Too

Now that Brandon Jacobs has re-signed with the Giants, he's made it clear that he wants wideout Plaxico Burress back too. That decision, however, isn't 'Earth's' to make. There's plenty of room ahead of him in the decision making process.
1. The legal system. If you or I were facing gun possession charges, we'd be fortunate to get a job cleaning the men's room at Port Authority, never mind playing in the NFL. What happens to Burress, first and most important, is up to the courts.
2. Roger Goodell. After Burress pays his debt to society, he'll have to face Commissioner Goodell, who will decide if-and when-Burress gets to play with the other kids.
3. Tom Coughlin & Jerry Reese. They'll have to decide if Burress' talent is worth the headache. Apparently, unlike Tiki Barber and Jeremy Shockey, Burress doesn't bad mouth teammates (make that Eli Manning). Burress needs what Rick Pitino might call 'organizational skills. Two GREAT tools in that regard: A life coach and an alarm clock.
4. Eli Manning: Manning will have a say here. You want your QB happy. Burress helped young Elijah reach the promised land of a Super Bowl win. As long as Burress is productive, Manning and his teammates with want him back-even if the players have to make a decided effort to get Burress to make nice.
As for me, it's a tough call. Y'all know that I have no use for players like Ray Lewis and Adam 'Pacman' Jones-bad guys who have abused the honor of playing football. If Plaxico can get his life together, than Big Blue can keep him-IF THEY WANT TO. I'd have no big problem if the Giants decided, "Thanks, but no thanks." For all we know, the Giants could have a new pass catcher shortly after midnight, when the free agent frenzy begins. We'll see.
