D-Wright on Willie's New Gig
We were just perusing some of the leftovers from last night’s interview with David Wright and came across the following nugget...
Sure it’s a brief sound bite, but it’s blog-worthy nonetheless (that’s a phrase I just coined, by the way). We asked the Mets third baseman his thoughts on Willie Randolph landing the bench coach gig with the Brewers.
Was Wright happy to see Willie had moved on? Was he upset Randolph is lending his expertise to playoff contender? Check it out for yourself.
Sure the Randolph/Mets divorce was messy and definitely handedly improperly. Personally, I’m glad Willie landed another job so quickly. I think he got a bad rap here in New York and a couple of players quit on him (read: Carlos Delgado). I’m sure Willie will get another chance to skipper a team in a few years and there’s nothing wrong with keeping your name in the game and taking a lesser job with Milwaukee.
I know Willie’s firing is a hot-button issue here in New York for both Mets AND Yankee fans. Mets fans blame Randolph for the September meltdowns and Yankee fans blame the Mets organization for mistreating a former Pinstriper.
So what do you think? Agree with D-Wright? Have a beef with his comments? Let us hear it!! - Matt Estreich, Special to Bobby v. the World
