Turkey and Football = Yum and Stress

When it comes to Thanksgiving Day, we look forward to the football almost as much as the turkey (depending on who's cooking or providing for that matter, the football is better).

I called my brother to wish him a happy day and he was quick to move past the niceties and straight for the discussion about his Fantasy Football team. "The Cowboys have to win to keep me in the lead.." For New Yorkers and all of us in the Tri-state area, the REAL day of "football" thanks will be Sunday. The Jets will welcome the Broncos to the Meadowlands and have to capitilize on their dethroning of the then-perfect Titans. The Giants continue their road tour and land in Washington to face their division rivals.

Neither journey is considered easy as we look from week 13 to week 17. The Giants see the Eagles, the surging Cowboys, the NFC South leading Panthers and the Vikings. You can bet that everyone is out to get the Super Bowl champs and knock them off their pedestal. I also feel as much as they have proven, no one wants to REALLY believe the Giants are a fantastic team. Oh but Eli does this...oh but the defense gave up that...do we question Bill Gates or just know that anything he creates will be pretty darn good? I'm a Mac lady but you can't knock Microsoft and those "Windows".

How about the Jets? Favre, Faneca, Woody, Washington...the names all matter but giving them complete trust, that's hard to do. You can't blame a Jets fan (who is usually a Mets fan--need I say more?). The Jets can add to their five straight wins but people are like, shhhh, don't get ahead of yourself. If you allow me to do so, with opponents like San Francisco and the Seahawks, Gang Green has at least two gimme games. The Jets should have no problem getting to the playoffs...PLAYOFFS!...sorry had to go there. I say... RELAX Jets fans...don't sweat it! I know you will though and your Sunday (extended, extended Turkey Day) will have you on the couch, watching each snap with your heart in your throat.

Ultimately, Thanksgiving Day is about giving thanks for what we have ...even if it's this moment when the Jets and Giants are doing so well, than you know what? Thank you very much! Seriously, be thankful...in this day and age, with so much going on...be thankful you can still smile and enjoy a new day.
