So Long “Same Old Jets?”

With the Jets in first place and the talk of a possible “Subway” Super Bowl with the Giants, is it time we retire (at least for this season) the phrase “same old Jets?” We went to Jets practice today and asked the players if this team is any different than the clunkers of the past.

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a fan base that anticipates DOOMSDAY more so than Jet fans. But I ask you, Gang Green faithful, at this point in the season, do you have any confidence in this team? Or are you up to your old selves and waiting on that five-game losing streak that puts you at 8-8 and out of the playoffs?

Are these the “same old Jets?” We hear at WPIX think the S.O.J. won’t show up again this season. This team, at least for this season (a.k.a. as long as Brett Favre is in the mix), will be above the traditional pitfalls that have doomed Jets’ teams of the past.

We’re not talking Super Bowl champions here, but at least they’ll make the franchise and it’s self-made miserable fans proud.
