Ruben Droughns Takes One For The Team (***Warning: Video Guaranteed To Make You Cringe)
Giants practice took a painful turn yesterday, if only for a few brief moments...AND WE HAVE THE MUST SEE VIDEO TO PROVE IT!!! (Turn up your speaker volume for MAXIMUM effect).
During a drill, fullback Madison Hedgecock (who was the subject of a profile HERE on wpix.com) “fumbled” a football attached to an elastic band with near tragic consequences for drill-mate Ruben Droughns. Newsday's Giants beat man and blogger Tom Rock referenced the play in his own blog HERE.What do I mean? Take a look at the video below. First, we’ve included a clip of how the drill is SUPPOSED to work; then, the PAINFUL blooper. Check it out.
Sorry, we had to include a couple of replays. I’m happy to report that Droughns was fine. Despite his vulnerable position, the ball mercifully missed the Droughns family jewels and he was up on his feet shortly after Hedgecock’s not-so-sincere apology. Not much has gone wrong for Big Blue this year, so something like this seemed inevitable. Thankfully, like the loss to Cleveland, Droughns and the G-Men have emerged unscathed.
