Let The Wheeling and Dealing Begin

The first shot has been fired. Baseball's offseason has produced it's first big trade and a surprising one. It's not official just yet, but word is that the Colorado Rockies are sending Matt Holliday to the Oakland A's of all teams. The Athletics have been known for getting rid of big stars, now they get one.
Holliday, the 2007 NLCS MVP, hit .321 in 2008 with 25 HR and 88 RBI. In 5 MLB seasons, he hit 128 HR and drove in 483 runs while hitting .319, but remember, half his games were played at offense friendly Coors Field. This should help the A's, who used 8 starters in left field and had their worst record (75-86) since 1998. The A's were last in the American League with 646 runs scored and last in the Majors with a .242 batting average. The Mets and Yankees are taking notice because Holliday was on both teams' radar. The Mets have a hole in left field and the Yankees can use an outfielder at every position. Manny Ramirez is just sitting back and waiting. As outfielders are taken off the board, his value increases. With the winter meetings a couple of weeks away, I still say bring Manny to Flushing. Omar are ya listenin'?
