Baseball hot stove already heating up

Let me say this: If Tampa Matt’s Rays want Aaron Heilman - TAKE HIM. Here’s the rub: Do the Mets have the prospects to trade for a Jackson or Sonnenstein? Johnathan Niese? Daniel Murphy? Carlos Marttinez? Please. Honestly, Omar Minaya’s biggest concern while he’s bowling at the GM meetings should be replacing most, if not all of the bullpen. Since Omar did NOTHING last offseason, perhaps he thinks shoring up a ‘pen is easier than a 7/10 split.

Meanwhile, Carlos Delgado WILL be back with the Mets next season. For one year fine. I know Carlos wanted some financial security with the Obama tax hikes soon to arrive. (Does anybody understand that when you make MILLIONS of dollars in even 1 season, financial stability in the U.S., France or Germany ain’t an issue? You don’t have to be Monica Crowley to see that.) Still, Carlos is 36, and who knows if he will have even the bounce back season that he had last year. I don’t care what anybody says-Delgado seems like a nice guy, but he, like Jose Reyes, gave up on Willie Randolph. Jerry Manuel was the best thing that ever happened to the Mets’ first baseman. Does the lack of a contract extension mean he’ll be as unprofessional as he was when Willie was around? Let’s hope not.
