Giants Fans... Relax!!
Yes... The Giants looked bad last night in their 35-14 loss to the Browns. Yes ... Giants Cornerback Aaron Ross got burned twice by Braylon Edwards. One for a 70 yard bomb, the other for an 11 yard touchdown. Yes... Eli Manning looked like the pre-Super Bowl run Eli with 3 interceptions. But this is only ONE game.
In the previous 4 Giants games, Eli threw only 2 interceptions and the Giants defense allowed a total of 49 points... that averages out to a little more than 12 points per game. That ain't bad.
So how do we analyze last night's game? The Giants just played a bad game. Simple. Cleveland, who won 10 games last season, was desperate. They had underachieved, coming in with a 1 and 3 record. Their only victory had come against winless Cincinnati. The Browns had not yet won a home game. What better way to bust out than to beat the defending Super Bowl Champs on Monday night when the country was watching.
Besides, did we honestly think the Giants would go the entire regular season without losing? What happened to the last team that did that? Now coach Coughlin has a reason to get on the players again. That might be a blessing in disguise.
The Giants will probably take this "us against the world" mentality. Nobody is picking us to win. That might work for them. The Giants have shown a good bounce back ability. Last season's Minnesota game was as putrid as they come and the Giants came back to win 7 of their next 9 and win the Super Bowl.
The only other thing that's bothersome was that the Giants missed an opportunity to put some distance between them and the rest of the NFC East. The Eagles were the only NFC East team to win this weekend. But the Giants will be fine. Unless they lose next week.
