Trading Manny Ramirez = Formula for Disaster
Manny Ramirez is a vital part of the Red Sox team that has thrived for the past decade. Even so, the 2004 World Series MVP and the Sox organization have parted ways. But neither the Red Sox nor Manny will benefit from this trade at this point in the season.
The Red Sox, even with David Ortiz, are out of their minds if they think their team will be better off without a slugger like Manny. He’s consistently been the team’s best hitter and clutch performer. Without him, the Red Sox may even drop out of playoff contention in the AL East.
The hot conflict between Manny and the Sox could have been cooled off. Ramirez needed to man up and change his attitude. No matter what team he's with, he got to learn to put the team’s interests ahead of his own and play in every game. On the other hand, the Red Sox should have come to terms with Manny’s swagger and carefree approach. That’s just the way he is and always has been. If he took things more seriously, he might actually go into a slump once in a while.
Bottom line: You shouldn't have traded Manny! If the Red Sox really wanted to win this season then they would have waited until November to make their final decision. - Matan Cohen, Special to Bobby v. the World
Well, whatever happens in LA, just know we're all invited for drinks at Manny's place afterwards - Let's go to the videotape:

Well now we learned that Manny went to the Dodgers, and the BoSox got Jason Bay in return. What a mistake! Jason Bay will never put up the numbers (and not even come close) Manny did. This really, really hurts the sox. Unless they were thoroughly convinced that Manny would bag it the rest of the season, than I guess they had to do it. But there is no way the Red Sox could let Manny hold them hostage like this. Now I am curious to see if Manny actually tries for the Dodgers if they don't agree on a long-term deal in the next ten minutes...
