Mets start final Shea act dread-"Philly"

WILLIE-RANDOLPH-PISSED-blog.jpgWell Mets fans, don’t panic just yet. But you can start wondering.

Make it 9 straight losses to the Phillies-the latest coming on the final Opening Day in the 45 year history of Shea. It is bad enough that the team had the biggest collapse in the history of professional sports last season. Worse: the team that benefited and went to the playoffs -the Phillies picked up right where they left off.

So many questions: Can Perez finish the 6th inning-if so, why not? Willie Randolph should have let him work his way out of trouble. Should Endy Chavez have bunted with a man on and the Mets trailing 3-2? Yes.

Can we get a big hit in the clutch? Apparently not-that has been a major problem thus far.

Where the heck is Pedro Feliciano? The Mets are not disclosing at this time some mysterious injury (FYI: El Duque was back in the city today to have his foot looked at -that cannot be good)If Willie has to take Smith out after he warmed up, Feliciano (if he’s healthy), NOT Schoenweis, has to enter the game.

The coup de grace-after getting two hits-including a long home run -Delgado’s error changed the whole tenor of the game. You just sensed that the Phils had confidence.

They should. Suddenly, the Phillies are the Jersey Turnpike version of the Braves. They know it, and so do the Mets. This gane wasn’t well played-Delgado’s error-and TWO passed balls by Brian Schneider-LoDuca had two all last season.

Perhaps the worst realities:last September’s malaise has carried over offensively. Did you ever think the Mets were going to rally once they got behind? PLUS THE BULLPEN -they have been awful-another stellar outing by Heilman especially. You expect the hitting to come around. The pen MUST-especially since we all know Randolph doesn’t believe in a complete games. Hate to say it, but when your 3 straight losses have come against the Braves and Phillies, your most hated enemies, tomorrow’s Game 7 of the season better be damn lucky.

After watching today’s loss, Mets fans-yes, it is a big game.

what would have been amazin' yesterday is for the mets not to have sucked.. but of course they did. the only thing more delicious than my savory cheesesteak sandwich was watching the mets bullpen choke..AGAIN! and serioulsy everytime i go to shea i see little kids crying as their team blows it, which is the kind of sad you can only find here in the big apple. maybe you should try throwing batteries at your own team. you see, we don't cry in phillie, oh, except for when we're laughing so hard at the mets choking. today we make it 10 in a row.

meanwhile in kansas city, former met brian bannister got the win over the yanks...how long is it gonna take for all you freakin outer borough mutants to realize minaya eats it...in two years santana will be another pedro and your outfield is full of senior citizens as it is.

oh and i just also want to say what is mr. met!? i mean seriously, your mascot even stinks. its not anything..i bet its just some bubble headed kid from elmhurst they put in a uniform. at least he wears the right number for the mets - double zero!

The mets do too much talking and not enough hitting... no excuse for letting jamie moyer who's 45 , throws an 83 mph fastball and ranges between 75 and 80 with his changeup to go out and with an exception of delgado bury a capable line up. As for delgado, let's not get ahead of ourselves.. hes always owned moyer in the AL.. Let's see what happens when he needs to increase his bat speed against pitchers who throw 95 mph.

Jose Reyes better start to live up too all the hype like the beginning of last year.. they need his speed to produce runs.. if he doesnt get on then the mets have to rely on power from the 3,4 and 5 hitters.. when he gets on they can use his speed to play small ball and manufacture some runs.. Alot of people think its up too beltran and delgado and wright but you need fresh oil to get that engine going.. it's about Reyes, the mets go as he goes...

Could there be a reason why he took a smaller contract? Does he know something that he doesnt want to share with the Mets??? Time will tell

No need to panic yet Mets fans. Let the weather get warmer, its the first week not the all star break but as a fan of baseball myself and after last year's collapse I can understand why all the friction and tension by the 7 train.

clap.clap.clap. wow it only took us playing like a bunch of girls and making 4 errors for you queens turds to actually win one. actually i think charlie manuel felt sorry for how bad we embarass you in your own park and let you win one.

oh and nice video shot of oliver perez..its obvious that he's looking in the direction of the great city of philadelphia and realizing he's marooned in queens with a bunch of canoli eaters.

tonight its 10 of 11 babies! ryan howard takes that hayseed maine deep! phils win 7-4!

Well once again this failed phillie fan has made another wrong prediction... YOU LOST... AGAIN... As for me not being a met fan, i have my own worries with my S.F. Giants.. We however did win 3 in a row thanks for wonderful and dominating pitching by a young pitching staff.. now if zito can get his head out of his ass and pitch like old and not throw an 85 mph fast ball and use this other pitches well maybe with a little more offense we can surprise some people...

met and the brew crew. prediction brewers take 2 of 3...

QUESTION - Why do you go to sporting events?
ANSWER - To support the team and players you love. And if you go for any other reason, then you shouldn't go at all.

April 8, 2008. It's the very last New York Mets home opener at Shea Stadium. They are playing against the Philadelphia Phillies. Shea stadium is packed with so many people, it is bursting at the seams. It is now the top of the seventh inning and Jorge Sosa gets Pedro Feliz to pop out to end the inning. The Mets are walking off the field to get up to bat and try to rally back and score some runs to win the game. As the Mets are headed to their dugout, and before SNY cuts to commercial, all I can hear out of my television are the boos pouring down from the crowd. Granted, I'm not happy either. After all, the Mets just lost their two run lead and now trail Philly 3 to 2. But lets get a grip here. After all, there are still about 158 games left.

When did Mets fans become so spoiled anyway? The Mets haven't won a world series since 1986. Have the Yankees and their fans, rubbed off on Mets fans so much, that the Mets fans now feel like they should win EVERY game?

Wednesday, April 9, 2008. I turn on the Mets VS Phillies game after I finish watching the New York Rangers beat the New Jersey Devils in game 1 of the NHL playoffs. It is the 6th inning and the Mets are up by the score of 7 to 2. Now this seems to be exactly what the fans at Shea were looking for yesterday. So they must be happy tonight. Right? Well, I scan the crowd to check their reaction, but there are hardly any fans in the stadium. The stadium is practically empty. It's only the sixth inning and the Mets are beating up on the Phillies. But most of the fans have left. So, that begs the question. What do Mets fans want? The Mets fall behind by a run and they get booed. The Mets go up by five runs and the fans leave. Being a Mets fan who has grown tired of the Shea Stadium "Boo birds", I don't understand this behavior.

When you are a true FAN, you need to rally behind your team, and show them some support. At least, that's what good home crowds do. But unfortunately for the New York Mets, too many Mets fans have become too much like New York Jets fans. Jets fans have been voted one of the worst fans in all of sports. And with good reason. Jets fans are ruthless, rowdy, ignorant and consistently booing their home team. Bottom line. They are non-supportive. On September 10, 2007, Jets fans cheered when Chad Pennington got hurt against the Patriots and had to leave the game. When fans start behaving like this, home games become worse then road games. It is no wonder the Mets had a better road record than home record last year.

Anybody looking for a lesson on how fans should act, and want to see how supporting your team can change the play of your team. Go to Madison Square Garden and watch a New York Rangers hockey game. They seriously must be the best fans in all of sports. If the Rangers fall behind by a goal, you are not going to hear the Garden pouring down boos onto their team. You may hear a collective groan or even some curses. But the fans remain behind their team. They'll start cheering. They'll start getting loud. They'll start chanting "Lets go Rangers"! The Garden will begin to rock. Electricity will fill the air. Then the players will begin to feel it and feed off the crowds energy. They'll play their absolute best and give 110%. That is the advantage of playing at home. But unfortunately, the New York Mets do not seem to have that advantage. Instead they are coming off the field to a chorus of boos. Any athlete who has ever played competitive sports will tell you. It's hard to feed off negativity from your home crowd and use it to mount a come back.

So remember "Boo birds". You go to games to SUPPORT your team. So the next time you are having issues supporting your team, simply start to sing "take me out to the ball game". And root, root, root for your home team...

And if you can't do that, then just stay home.
