If I knew you were all gonna take it so personally...
Recently I’ve gotten quite a few comments on my anti Wrestlemania entry. Hey, some of them were quite creative. But so that everyone understands my position:
“Professional Wrestling” - the WWE, TNA, ECW, WHATEVER - is a waste of time. The fact that people enjoy exihibitions that already have predetermined endings demonstrates how delusional they are. The fact that you watch a product whose most successful owner (Vince McMahon) run by a man with no soul, no concern for his employees -demonstrates how delusional you all are. "Pro" wrestling does nothing but glorify violence. It has no union to protect its members from the whims of McMahon. Same thing with Jeff Jarrett and TNA Wrestling-WCW before that, or NWA. Doesn't matter. Guys are in 200-300 matches a year, away from home weeks at a time. Rick Rude, Kurt Henning, Owen Hart, Eddie Guerrero, Elizabeth Hulette-to name a few-have all died from drug use. (or in Hart's case, negligence on the part of the WWE.)
Chris Benoit caused the deaths of three people, including his own. He is responsible for his actions, perhaps answering throughout all eternity for the killing of his wife and son.
BUT: Where were Vince McMahon and the WWE to even consider drug testing or any signs of help to Benoit or others? Such actions now are too little too late-like Bud Selig ALL OF A SUDDEN interested in cleaning up baseball. If Congress hadn’t come-a-calling, steroids would still be the norm in hardball.

Like all things sports and business, it's about money. That's why I consider Vince McMahon Don King's twin brother. Both will go to any lengths to glorify themselves and their 'product' for the sake of others.
I'm not afraid to say that any station, any network, including the CW, that runs this garbage-the FCC should consider pulling the broadcasting license from that entity. There is no entertainment or edifying value in the WWE or any wrestling company.
We've probably all enjoyed wrestling at some point-most people chuckle and move on. Once you see it for what it is-a sham of soap opera-like scenes bathed in over hyped sexuality and supposed athleticism-it's time to let it go. Once you see wrestling for what it is, you have a responsibility to yourself and your children-or nieces, nephews, grandchildren, etc. Do them a favor and teach them to read instead of jumping around the house imitating their favorite wrestler.
If you need this stuff as a "guilty pleasure", ask Lionel Tate, the young Florida youth that killed a little girl with wrestling moves, about “guilty pleasures.” I can remember my youngest sister nearly cracking her skull open years ago because we kids wanted to do what we’d seen the pros do.
I’ll be honest, I even struggle with MMA-which has more sanctions and safety nets than Vince McMahon or Don King could imagine in their greedy little minds. What is so great about watching violence, even and ESPECIALLY as playtime? Wrestling is but a microcosm of what is wrong with our society and world. We LOVE it when bad things happen. “If it bleeds, it leads” is a mantra known but never admitted in the TV world.
Sorry I won’t be watching the next Smackdown or Raw, but I’ll be wondering how guys like Lex Luger, Superstar Billy Graham and Rowdy Roddy Piper are doing. After all, wrestling’s been real great to them. Graham and Piper have had health issues, and Luger watched Miss Elizabeth (Hulette) die in his home in 2003 -too drunk or high to help her. Do a Google search on a deceased wrestler, see how many had drug problems, or health issues related to drugs-usually steroids.
Yeah, sounds like a great lifestyle, boys and girls.
