My favorite Shea memory is meeting my husband Ian there in 1999. He was visiting from London and it was his first ever ballgame. It was an important game, the September 29 heart-breaking loss against the Braves that put the Mets 3 games out of the wildcard with 3 go to...they had to take 3 from the Pirates and the Reds had to lose 3 to the Brewers and indeed that is what happened and of course the Mets beat the Reds in the one game playoff. I sent an email to Ian who was back in London to tell him of the improbable comeback and and as he continued to follow the Mets through the rest of the playoffs, our friendship deepened and we ultimately fell in love and got married.
