uft0510.jpeg

We've been warned for a year and now the axe has come down. Mayor Bloomberg`s budget proposal could cripple the city's public schools.

UFT President, Michael Mulgrew, joins us this morning to discuss the impact that the proposed budget would have not only on teachers but on students as well, especially students in poor communities.

RESIST

Calling all teachers to participate in a NON-UNION sponsored sick-out on 9-21-2011 to protest:

--> federal meddling in public education
--> public education profiteering
--> excessive testing
--> scripted and narrowed curricula
--> gutting of arts, vocational education, science, and history
--> wasteful bureaucracy
--> incompetent and antagonistic administrators

We demand local control and accountability for public education!

SPREAD THE WORD!

Why layoff off teachers, when you can provide a retirement incentive for those that are 52 with 30 yrs teaching. Isnmt that what 'ike bloomberg wants..all veteran teachers out. Stop the witch hunt. Get the millions we waste on non productive essentials. Or tap into per session money. How about stop the double pick up for extended time..was that an 80 million dollar. contract? How many single riders do we have on how many busses? The list goes on and on...This we know is a union busting move...whose next? we should be working toward effiency and common sense moves not destroying careers and lives and well beingof our children.
