NJ Dad David Goldman On Int'l Custody Battle In Memoir 'A Father's Love'

david0510.jpg

New Jersey father David Goldman stopped by to talk to us about his new book A Father's Love, and hopes his international bitter custody battle for son Sean, 11, will help parents worldwide

David Goldman and his Brazilian wife, Bruna Bianchi, led what appeared to be a happy life in New Jersey. But in June 2004, Bianchi took their four-year-old son, Sean, to Brazil for what she said would be a two- week vacation. Once there, she informed Goldman that she was staying in Brazil-and keeping Sean, setting in motion an international controversy that would eventually reach the highest levels of the U.S. and Brazilian governments. It would be almost five years before David saw Sean again.

What kept David Goldman going when everything looked so hopeless? In A Father's Love, Goldman recounts his extraordinary battle, despite overwhelming odds, to bring his abducted son back home. It is a riveting story full of peculiar ironies, unfathomable elements, threats, and legal twists and turns. Goldman describes in detail the wrenching emotions he went through and how he relentlessly rallied support behind the scenes from both high-level U.S. government officials and national media organizations. Father and son were finally reunited in December 2009, and Goldman writes about the challenges he is now facing as he works to rebuild his relationship with his son, and the advocacy work he is doing on behalf of other children in similar circumstances.

Goldman's unusual story movingly celebrates an ordinary man's incredible love for and loyalty to his son, and his ability to overcome the unimaginable to keep them together. It is a testament to how connected any father and son can be.

A Father's Love: One Man's Unrelenting Battle to Bring His Abducted Son Home is available in bookstores now. You can meet David Thursday night at 7pm at the Barnes and Noble in Monmouth Mall in Eastontown, New Jersey. For more information, visit www.bringseanhome.org.

I think a men should not pay child support because the women all way get mad because thinks do not go they way i think president barack obama should look into the child support and see why men have a hander time geting custody of there kids.

I am also a victim of international parental abduction. You can see my website at www.willsonassociates.org. I believe the reporters interviewing Mr. Goldman on their programs are leaving out a few questions. First of all, why did the wife run and not come back? At first they stated in the media that she died in the hospital and then she died at home according to the court documents? Where is the proof in how this woman died in childbirth? Was there an autopsy? How come Mr. Goldman does not have all the evidence from his case posted on his website? Why is it when one tries to call the courthouse to verify the records and the evidence in his case, we find the case is on lock down.

I have not seen all of the evidence in this case, but this is for sure, we are missing her side of the story. Someday, hopefully, the son will be able to tell us the truth. I have looked into many cases of this nature, and from what I can tell - she may have been abused by two husbands. Once victimized it is not unheard of that this woman may fall victim again, by Mr. Goldman himself, and her new husband, in Brazil. Both of them may not be the ideal man. What don't we know? How far fetched would it be that a want to-be actor/model is a narcissist that may have treated his wife badly causing her to run back to her home country? Has anyone asked that question? The woman is just simply evil because Mr. Goldman says she is? Wow. Haven’t seen that one before! Where is her voice? How is it that her new husband in Brazil wants this child in her belly to hand over to his grandparents? Why didn't she die in a hospital? There are a lot of unanswered questions in this case to be sure. Mr. Goldman may be truly innocent, but maybe he is not. He is a man who has sought the spotlight as a career. Now he has it.

The congressman is right about the lack of implementation of enforcement of the Hague Treaty being a problem in these international cases. However, his new law is a mistake. The reason very few American children kidnapped abroad are not returned is not due to the lack of enforcement alone. It is also due to the corrupt Central Authority as well as the funding act that provides the Office of Children's Issues of the US State Department $100,000 per child, per year for every American child held abroad in these cases. This comes directly from our conversations with the State Department personally. The State Department is earning money off of our children kept abroad. It is one of the reasons why they DO NOT STEP IN TO HELP AMERICAN CHILDREN. It is why 1 in 4 American children remain abroad! My daughter, being held in Spain by her British father is another perfect example of that.

It is nice that the US Congressman wants to come up with a way to help get our kids back, but his act is a huge mistake and I believe it will never get passed and I hope that it doesn't. There are better solutions and that is not it. It creates too much conflict between our country and a potential ongoing financial ally and our American government would much rather sacrifice a few American children to their own parent abroad then risk national security on a broader scale. It is why you never see these cases in the media! The State Department has no problem calling the FCC if a story is going to come out that may be a matter of national security. Does anyone remember how we could no longer see pictures of war on the news? Does anyone know that we are in a war in Mexico that never gets on the news? If the congressman wants to fix the problem, he would have to rewrite the Treaty, which would include enforcement, among many other things.

Also, the family law system in every country, especially the US only serves, in many cases as a proxy of abuse to children, in terms of format and in regards to having a judge decide on another person’s life alone. Court is for crime, not for family. Family law systems as they currently stand are abusive to every child and family that is forced to go through it. It is horrific.

I have a great deal of knowledge and evidence in regards to international family law cases and the flimsy document called the Hague Treaty that makes any law enforcement officer or investigator worth their weight, sick to their stomach, so I know the injustices that can go on in multiple levels in regards to these cases. From social services, to law enforcement, to court clerks, to the ABA, to the Central Authority and the State Department, the entire system is broken and abuses our children daily, by dragging them through attorneys fees and endless court room appearances and by turning their head and their back on every children that suffers in high conflict cases. The US is no worse or no better than any other country with the exception of possibly England.

I know this from years of experience. I lost contact with my daughter for over two and a half years and to this day I am lucky if I get to speak with her once a week. Her father is a British citizen residing in Spain illegally with our American daughter and through the use of fraud, perjury, forgery, lying, stealing, cheating and kidnapping has kept our daughter away from her home in California and her family. Somehow it didn't matter to the court that he never got the same treatment from me.

Oh yeah, money didn't hurt either. In a capital country like the US, it is very easy to buy your child through the court system. It is the way the American Bar Association has insured the livelihood of every attorney and bad case law that exists to date.

There is no excuse for the shame and incompetence that has occurred in my case to rid my daughter of her home and her mother in America. There is no excuse for any child in these cases to still be in them when we have to pay attorneys a $10,000 retainer before they will even considering talking to a parent with an international case. The entire thing is shameful, abusive, barbaric and corrupt.
