Paws For Cocktails Helps Finds Homes For Dogs, Cats

We got a preview of the animals from www.foranimalsinc.com that will benefit from the first annual Paws For Cocktails event being hosted by Jodi Applegate, Nate Berkus, Dionne Warwick & Kim Coles on April 15th, 2011 in Chelsea. Here in New York our Animal Control Center kills 140 cats & dogs a week.
As you can imagine, the weather, recession and overall economy has really stretched our animal rescue organizations to the breaking point and www.celebritycatwalk.com has been working with many of them in an effort to alleviate the tremendous influx of animals they are besieged with.
Tickets are available online at www.celebritycatwalk.com.
Just little snippets on the little ones we are bringing...
Bella -is a black 6 month old kitten (it's worth noting that Black Cats & Dogs suffer from Black Cats Syndrome) and are 10 times more likely to be euthanized in shelters. Bella was born on the streets & suffered an injury to her face that has left her a little 'special looking/mis-shapen) A prime example on why we work on getting cats to stop living/breeding on the streets......she has had 8 surgeries to repair the injury thanks to the folks at Pet Haven:))) She's comes a package deal-her sister is up for adoption and they must go together as they are bonded & her sister is a little timid-so we like to say together they make 1 complete cat......one has the looks-the other the personality!!!!!!
Anyone interested can contact www.foranimalsinc.com
Rufus
1.5 year old male pit bull saved by the ASPCA from a hoarding case where 21 dogs lived in a tiny apartment - Rufus grew up on a dining room table. He is just learning how to walk outside - he would love to go to a quiet home where he can acclimate to his new world. Rufus is excellent with other dogs and would be an ideal second dog.
Tracy True
3 year old female blue nose pit bull throwaway mama who had only given birth a month prior to when she was left at a random building in the Bronx. Cops brought her into the pound and due to overcrowding she was put on the list to euthanize. Rescuzilla pulled her and nursed her back to health from bronchitis and kennel cough as well as spayed her so she can no longer produce more animals to an already overpopulated city. Tracy True is in home foster and is a wonderful girl who is housebroken and trained and ready to go!
Sonny Lone
Sonny is a 9 month old pit bull puppy also saved from euthanasia at the pound during the same time Tracy True was there. He also got very sick and was nursed back to health by his loving foster parents. Sonny was found stuffed in a cat carrier on a busy avenue in the Bronx. He is very affectionate and will do well with a confident owner as sometimes Sonny gets nervous. He is a beautiful pup!
