Kings County DA Charles Hynes On 2nd Annual VOICE Out Event

On the evening of Wednesday, April 13, 2011, the Kings County District Attorney`s Office, in partnership with the Safe Horizon Brooklyn Rape and Sexual Assault Program, the Brooklyn Community Pride Center, and the Brooklyn Borough President`s Office, will hold its Second Annual Brooklyn Crime Victims` Rights VOICE Out (Victims On the Impact of Crime Event).
The event will be held from 6pm to 7pm in the ceremonial courtroom of Brooklyn Borough Hall, 209 Joralemon Street, downtown Brooklyn. The program, which takes place during National Crime Victims` Rights Week, will recognize the voices of those in Brooklyn whose lives have been forever changed by crime.
Acting as Master of Ceremonies at this year`s VOICE Out will be PIX 11 weather expert Mr. G. There will also be musical performances by students from LaGuardia Arts, the New York City High School for the Performing Arts. These young musicians will perform, 'They Are Here,' an original choral composition that was created exclusively for the VOICE Out program and which incorporates the words of survivors of violent crime as stated in their 'victim impact statements' to the court.
The program will also include a keynote address by District Attorney Charles J. Hynes, and spoken testimonials from several survivors of violent crime. Last year`s event was a powerhouse, standing room only celebration of the human spirit.
