2nd Annual 'Whisky & Women Unite' Celebrates Int'l Women's Day

To generate awareness for women’s empowerment, the Second Annual Whisky and Women Unite Event is taking place today, March 8th with proceeds benefitting Bottomless Closet NYC. Kendall Farrell, executive director at Bottomless Closet and Lynnette Merrero, president of the NYC Chapter of LUPEC were on hand to explain more.

The Compass Box Whisky Co., a boutique Scotch whiskymaker and craft blender, announces their 2nd annual event in collaboration with the NYC Chapter of Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails (LUPEC) and Astor Center in honor of International Women’s Day (IWD) which is celebrated worldwide on March 8th, 2011.

To mark the 100th global anniversary of IWD, a Scotch whisky cocktail tasting and culinary experience will take place at Astor Center, New York City’s ultimate hands-on spirits and food culture destination and will benefit the Bottomless Closet NYC, a non-profit that helps disadvantaged NYC women become self-sufficient through its comprehensive programming.

Compass Box will also host celebratory tasting events on IWD in Chicago, London, Paris and Moscow – all to benefit local charities that embrace women’s empowerment through education, training and support.

Thirty percent of all proceeds from the event will be donated to Bottomless Closet NYC and tickets include eight original Compass Box Scotch whisky cocktails, with two cocktails matched with Bespoke Chocolates and two paired with artisanal cheeses from Murray’s Cheese.
