Rx DrugSAFE Keeps Your Meds Safely Away From Unwanted Users

Parents, ask yourself: Where do you keep all the prescription medication in your home. Is it left unattended on your night table or your kitchen counter? Well, you should know that 69-percent of emergency room visits for children 5-years-old and younger were because of accidental ingestion of drugs.
And it is not the toddlers, who you have to watch out for. There was a 76-percent increase of calls to the poison-control centers where made because of teenagers misuse of prescription drugs. That is the reason behind the Rx DrugSAFE-- a prescription pill lock box, created to keep family safe. Dr. Mary Ellen Renna, a pediatrician, was here to explain more.
The Rx DrugSAFE is the only field-proven medical safe that offers the security and durability of a lightweight, 17-gauge steel safe with fingerprint access.
Each safe can store up to 12 medication bottles and can recognize 120 unique users, making it possible to enroll other responsible family members, or professionals, in the event that medications need to be accessed in an emergency.
The safe features a twisted steel security cable, which allows users to secure their safe while traveling, a set of back up keys, and an optional mounting bracket. The mounting bracket enables authorized users to install the Rx DrugSAFE anywhere in their home so that it cannot be removed by teenagers or visitors.
Stats on Purposeful Ingestion
• There was a 76-percent increase in calls to poison-control centers regarding teen misuse of prescription drugs intended for treatment of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder
• About 71,000 people were admitted to U.S. hospitals for prescription-drug overdoses in 2006.
Statistically, 70% of teens who have abused prescription drugs have taken them from friends and family. Further, 98% of families do not secure their medications at home, making it particularly easy for toddlers and teens to access powerful and potentially dangerous drugs.

I bought this safe a few months ago and it has given me peace of mind. I use to keep my prescriptions in my linen closet loosely. It never occured to me to lock up my pills until my friends daughter OD's on pain medication she took from my friends bathroom. She spent two days in the hospital. When my kids were younger, their doctors always told me to keep medicine away and out of their reach. Now that they are older, I am glad I have one. Works great. Its really simple to use.
