Malaak Compton-Rock Talks About World AIDS Day

This World AIDS Day, December 1, (RED) will light more than 80 iconic landmarks around the world red to promote awareness of the ongoing fight against the AIDS epidemic in Africa and highlight the attainable goal of ending mother-to-child transmission of HIV by 2015, creating the first generation of babies born HIV-free.
One of the landmarks in New York City turning red is Brooklyn Borough Hall which Malaak Compton-Rock (wife of comedian Chris Rock) will be lighting. Malaak-Compton Rock has her own organization Angel Rock Project and one of the programs within the organization is Journey for Change, a global volunteer exchange program for at-risk youth.
Malaak took a group of teens from Brooklyn to South Africa where they saw (RED)'s work in person and prepared for the trip using (RED) materials and watching The Lazarus Effect. Malaak was joined by Journey for Change teens Joshua Hall and Queen Clyde this morning.

Maalack has done wonders in raising awareness for HIV in South Africa and in Central Brooklyn(Brownsville, Flatbush, Bushwich, Bed-Stuy)... Her efforts are endless and important to the African American Community. The fact that she raises awareness by educating our youth only gives me hope that our children will help make a difference in the future. Thanks Maalack!
