Miss New York Claire Buffie Talks About Her Platform "Straight for Equality: Let's Talk"

Claire Buffie is Miss New York 2010! Claire is a 24-year-old graduate of Ball State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communications and a minor in Dance Performance. She resides in Manhattan where she splits her time between her own small business, Claire Buffie: Photography&Design, and Apple.
Claire is an outspoken advocate of human rights, opening the dialogue about equality amongst youth, teens and adults alike with her platform "Straight for Equality: Let's Talk."
As an executive board member of PFLAG NYC (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) and a speaker in their Safe Schools Program, Claire has had the opportunity to speak to over 2,000 students in New York City public schools about respecting diversity, eliminating discriminatory vocabulary, and the breaking the stereotype and stigma surrounding marginalized youth, especially gay or questioning youth.
She continues to lobby with the Human Rights Campaign and Broadway Impact, PFLAG National and Straight for Equality, and is aligning with many more New York and national organizations to promote the necessary message of equality and influence people to start talking about what she believes to be civil rights movement of this generation.
