Michael Imperioli Makes His Directorial Debut In 'The Hungry Ghosts'

Michael Imperioli came by today to discuss The Hungry Ghosts, a 2009 film that Imperioli both wrote and made his directorial debut on.
The Hungry Ghosts takes the Buddhist belief that hungry ghosts are a spiritual metaphor for people's need for fulfillment through superficial and material means and applies that to five New Yorkers and their intersecting lives of satiating their spiritual appetites.
The Hungry Ghosts boasts an ensemble cast including Imperioli's co-stars from his role on critically acclaimed HBO drama The Sopranos, Steven Schirripa and Sharon Angela.
Although Hungry Ghosts is Imperioli's first time in the director's chair, Imperioli is also an accomplished actor, best recognized for playing Christopher Moltisanti on the Sopranos, for which he won an Emmy and SAG Award as well as a Golden Globe nomination.
The Hungry Ghosts made it's US premiere at the Santa Barbara Film Festival on February 5, but will be making a wide release on October 1.
