Courtroom Sketch Artist Marilyn Church Captures Courtroom Scene

As a courtroom sketch artist, Marilyn Church has covered a number of infamous trials, from David Berkowitz to John Gotti to Martha Stewart to Bernie Madoff. The Library of Congress is collecting 35 years of all the great trials she has done. She has about 3,000 drawings altogether. Their purpose is to explain the process that goes into courtroom art.
Church attended Pratt Institute and used to sketched fashion before a friend of hersm who was a courtroom sketch artist, and introduced her to the trade. Church is usually commissioned by TV networks and newspapers and depending on the sketch, it can take between 3 minutes to 3 hours for one to be completed.
Church spoke to us about being in the courtroom and sketching during the famous trials of John Gotti, "Son of Sam" David Berkowitz, Martha Stewart, P. Diddy and Bernie Madoff.
