9/11 Healthcare Bill Goes Before The US Senate

giles1026.jpg

Sept. 11 first responder Charles Giles and his wife Diane of Barnegat, New Jersey stopped by to talk about the Senate hearing on the 9/11 healthcare bill (S.1334).

We first met Giles when the bill was going through the House of Represenatives. Giles rushed to the aid of a firefighter on Sept. 11. As a result of his selfless act to help another, doctors found bits of debris -- including glass and concrete -- in his lungs. Giles lost his house because he couldn't keep up with paying his mortgage and medical bills. Now, he is dying and has to take 39 different medications, which totals to over $4,000 every month.

MORE INFORMATION:
S.1334 - James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2009
A bill to amend the Public Health Service Act to extend and improve protections and services to individuals directly impacted by the terrorist attack in New York City on September 11, 2001, and for other purposes

I want to thank WPIX and the Feal Good Foundation for not letting this problem be swept under the rug.

There is much work left to be done but unfortunately, still many lives will continue to be lost. At least they wont go un-noticed thanks to WPIX an John Feal and his FealGood Foundation.
