March Down 5th Avenue For The 53rd German-American Steuben Parade

The 53rd German-American Steuben Parade is taking place this Saturday (September 25) at 12pm along 5th Avenue!
For more than 50 years, the German-American Steuben Parade has grown into the largest event of its kind in the United States. No other festival in New York City is as colorful and as much fun as our parade with hundreds of music and dance groups, the wildly costumed and masked Karneval groups, the folks in their historic Tracht, the marksmen and all the other marchers on Fifth Avenue. They come together every year to celebrate German-American culture and traditions, and to applaud the achievements of German immigrants to the United States.
We tried out hand at "stein holding" in honor of the National Championship of Stein Holding that will take place in Central Park on the 25th. Lenny Coyne and Miss German America Stephanie Russell-Kraft will be here to talk about the festivities. For more information on the German-American Steuben parade, visit www.germanparadenyc.org.
Sue from the Oak Chalet Restaurant in Belmore, Long Island stopped by to compete in a "stein stacking" competition. The Oak Chalet is hosting Oktoberefst Thursdays. The festivities include German specialties along with music from Accordianist Frank Rapuano. Oktoberfest Thursdays are taking place through Oktober 28th.
