Get Your 'Just Desserts' On A New Bravo Show

snacks0914.jpg

Dannielle Kyrillos, DailyCandy.com's editor-at-large and the brand new judge of Bravo's highly anticipated new show Top Chef: Just Desserts hosted by Gail Simmons premiering on Wednesday, September 15th at 11pm (then moving into its regular timeslot of 10pm on Wednesday, September 22nd).

TCJD judges panel is rounded out by head judge Johnny Iuzzini, one of the country's most celebrated and innovative pastry chefs and Executive Pastry Chef at Restaurant Jean Georges and Hubert Keller, critically acclaimed chef as well as guest judge on Top Chef and finalist on Top Chef Masters. Pastry chefs will see if they have what it takes to out flambé, out frost and out fudge the competition.

Dannielle highlighted the most unique dessert and entertaining trends happening all around New York City.

The Good Batch
Authentic, handmade Dutch stroopwafels (spiced waffle cookies with caramel filling)
Available to order online, at the Brooklyn Flea, and in several Manhattan and Brooklyn gourmet shops

Joyride
Call it bro yo: Three Ivy-educated friends run this mobile truck that combines custom frozen yogurt (a blend of natural and Greek; $4-$7) with Stumptown coffee bar drinks. Try "buzzed" - fro yo infused with caffeine - topped with fresh fruit or jaggery, the honey-like sap of Sri Lankan jaggery palm trees.

Sigmund Pretzelshop's Caramel Pecan Pretzel, $3.50
It's savory and sweet and crunchy and chewy and it's hard to talk about without craving one!

Babycakes NYC's rich, chocolate brownies ($1.50 each) are agave-sweetened, as well as gluten-, dairy-, egg- and soy-free, but they taste like the most decadent, dark, rich treat you can imagine. Delicious for everyone, but most especially those with allergies or dietary restrictions (so many of us!)

People's Pops (about $4)
Whatever delicious local, seasonal sensational flavor they've crafted that week is the best frozen treat ever. It's still hot!

Four & Twenty Blackbirds, $4-5 a slice, $30-$35 a whole pie
Two sisters make pies from heaven in every flavor you'd ever want. They do not ship or deliver, so you have to visit their charming, gorgeously restored shop to get a slice or a whole one (they need 48 hours notice for the latter).
