I'm not really trying to steal anyone's thunder, but the cellphone link cordless phones have been out for quite some time. Consumer Reports reviewed a few in late 2008. Panasonic's version then did not include an answering system. I own the CR recommened GE version which has, unfortunately, been discontinued. Similar units under the ATT and Vtech brands also exist.
Also, the solution to too many loyalty card keychain tags is far cheaper and simpler. Just take the keychain cards, tape them to a piece of paper in a column (double-sided tape on the back is best), and photo-copy them. Then cut out the column and fold it up to fit easily in a wallet. They scan fine at the store. I've been doing this for over two years now. Once you're happy with the order in the column, you can make a number of copies to keep a fresh, scannable one with you or to hand out to family.
