What The New Health Care Reform Means To You

Carrie Tracy, a Health Policy Associate for Community Service Society, was here to talk about what we need to know about the Health Care Reform changes going into effect tomorrow under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).
Here are some key changes:
• Children with pre-existing conditions can no longer be denied coverage when applying for an individual health insurance policy or as part of a family heath insurance plan
• Health plans will no longer have lifetime or annual benefit caps.
• Preventive screenings, such as annual physicals, mammograms, pap smears, and other services, will be provided to you without charge. your health plan will pay for these services, but cannot apply a co-payment, co-insurance, or deductible payment.
• Dependents can remain on their parents' health insurance plan until age 26.
