People Obsessed With Plastic Surgery

plastic0802.jpg

Dr. Robert Freund came to the PIX Morning to speak with us about people getting plastic surgery for the wrong reasons. He discusses this issue in his new book, A More Beautiful You: Reverse Aging Through Skin Care, Plastic Surgery and Lifestyle Solutions. Dr. Freund is certified plastic surgeons that practices on New York’s Upper East Side.

Dr. Freund spoke about people being happy for who they are and why people tend to resort to plastic surgery. A study done by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reported that celebrities have a major effect on what women define as true beauty. Recently, reality star Kim Kardashian urged one of her Twitter followers not to undergo plastic surgery to look like her.

Dr. Freund says the pressure is high with people being obsessed with the surgery, friends' encouragement to get plastic surgery, people needing counseling, the media going crazy, and the obsession to look better. He has refused people who are “not getting the surgery for the right reasons. If they don’t have reasonable expectations and if they don’t understand the risks of recovery.” He will not support someone to get plastic surgery who wants to be like a celebrity or someone else. Dr. Freund says, “You have to be happy within yourselves.”

Dr. Robert Freund is a graduate of Brown University and Cornell University Medical School. His pioneering work on the Teardrop Breast Lift and Lateral Brow Lift led New York Magazine to name him "One of New York's leading plastic surgeons in 2003." He also has another book out called, Cosmetic Breast Surgery: A Complete Guide to Making the Right Decision--from A to Double D.
