Brendan Marrocco

When 23-year-old Brendan Marrocco left to serve his country in Iraq, he never thought he would be coming home like he did . . . a quadruple amputee.

During the early morning hours of Easter Sunday, the vehicle that the Staten Island native was travelling in took a direct hit. Brendan was lucky to escape with his life but lost all of his limbs. He has been recovering at Walter Reed, but the one thing he wants most is to get back home. The young man's attitude as absolutely inspiring, despite his injuries he is upbeat and optimistic about the future.

And, with the help of his community, Brendan's wish will come true. He will be returning to a new, state-of-the-art home thanks to the generosity of the Building Homes for Heroes and the Stephen Siller Foundation. The money, $500,000, is still being raised but the goal is to get him into his new home by Christmas.

To find out how you can help Brendan's wish come true go to the Active Giving website.
