pack0730.jpg

From the beach to your family's favorite theme-park and even international flights across the pond, there are easy ways to pack the perfect bag. Travel Expert Anne McAlpin will challenge John and Suki to pack the perfect back in 30 seconds. She then gave them tips to packing the perfect bag.

Plus, we all know checked baggage fees are a concern for many traveling families these days so it's best you look for any deals available to you. She'll talk about how American Express is offering their Delta SkyMiles Cardmembers a free checked bag on every Delta flight - up to a $50 savings per person round-trip, which can amount to a savings of up to $200 per family. Travelers can all breathe a sigh of relief to know that yes, it’s okay to pack a checked bag especially when you and your family travel this summer. From destination getaways to the beach, to your family’s favorite theme-park and even international flights across the pond, there are easy ways to pack the perfect checked bag for you and your family.

McAlpin's packing tips include:

• Put your heaviest items like shoes and books near the wheels (don’t put them in the front pocket or it will tip over)

• Pajamas and swimsuits on top

• Belts go along the perimeter of the bag for easy access

• Use dry cleaner bag to keep your clothes wrinkle free

• Roll up your knits – the tighter you roll, the less wrinkles you’ll have

• Recycle & reuse lipstick holders to pack jewelry in i.e. your pierced earrings so they won’t get crushed!

• If you are traveling with infants, always pack a few pairs of earplugs in your carry-on bag and hand them out to those seated nearest you on the plane

Anne also recommends having your family practice going through security at home to help speed up the process when you are at the airport. Taking your family through the security line doesn’t have to be stressful so make it a fun event at home to prepare your kids so they are familiar with the protocol and you are in and out in no time!
